Generally speaking, esport is a type of competition with video games as the main medium. There are many different types of tournaments and competitions for different game types. For example, most tournaments of this nature will feature Counter Strike: Global Offensive or DOTA. However, there are many others.

Whether you want to be involved in the competitive world of Esports or just simply watch the events of Esports, it is important to keep in mind that there are several different ways to get involved. One of the best ways is to be part of a caster team. A caster team is usually made up of members from the various game types. This helps viewers from around the world get involved with the sport as a whole. In fact,Esports has really expanded itself outside of the traditional game types that it involves.

Through the years, there have been several different types of tournaments of Esports. However, two of the more popular tournaments that people tend to remember are the International e-sports Tournament and the Game Investing Invitational. These two tournaments defined the rules and structure of what would become the modern day CS:GO and Dota 2. Since then, there have been several different tournaments of this type, as well as several different spectator gaming tournaments.

One of the most notable activities of Esports is called the collegiate league scene. Many universities throughout North America, Europe, and South America have created collegiate leagues of their own to help improve the skill level of players. Players in these leagues are given a stipend by the school to play and practice. Many times, these players receive money as compensation for the work they put into improving themselves and the game.

There is also another very well known event in the history of Esports. Known as The International W Valve Spring Series, this series of events helped to define the growth of Esports. Teams from around the world would enter the tournament to battle for the chance to represent their region at The International. The winner of each game would be given a share of the overall prize pool, which totaled into millions of dollars at the time of this writing. Many players that became part of the ESL were able to walk away with thousands of dollars in winnings, as well as prestige within their gaming community.

The future looks bright for collegiate Esports. Several schools throughout the United States have already started to develop video game academies. In the next few years, we could see hundreds or even thousands of college athletes playing video games for a living. With the support of fans and viewers, this growing trend could very well redefine the sport in the future.
